Roger Wright Barlow, 39, was pronounced dead on the scene of the one-vehicle accident that occurred July 6 at approximately 12 minutes past midnight. The 1996 Chevrolet Astro van driven by Barlow went off the road and down an embankment on Highway 49 just north of Garrison Road.
The vehicle was traveling south toward Macon when the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the road.
Deputy William “Ed” Jernigan was the first officer on the scene. His report of the accident states that the white van was off the roadway and down the embankment when he arrived.
Jernigan said the driver was motionless, and the passenger, Angela Eve Baughman, was in the rear of the vehicle yelling for help. The deputy said Baughman was removed from the van and transported to the Medical Center by ambulance.
