The Jones County Lady Hounds clinched the regular season subregion softball title with a 2-1 victory at Houston County Tuesday evening.

The win makes the Lady Hounds 20-3 on the season and 5-0 in the subregion with one game to play. Even if they were to lose at home to Northside-Warner Robins in that final game next Tuesday, they would still be the subregion champs because the other three teams all have at least two losses.

Winning the subregion means Jones County will be a top seed for the region tournament and host a first-round best-of-three series against the fourth seed from the east subregion Oct. 5 and 7, and if they win that series, the Lady Hounds will host the Region 2-AAAAA final four Oct. 9-10.

Junior lefty Kylie Bass went the distance for the victory, holding the Lady Bears to five hits and one unearned run while striking out five and walking none.

Bree Comer went 3-for-4, Bass was 2-for-4 and Jazmine Washington scored both runs for the Lady Hounds.
