Jalapeños’ doors will open for bingo customers at 6 p.m. Aug.12, and the first game will begin at 7 p.m.
The charity bingos were previously held in the Lions Club building at the fairgrounds, but because of the extreme heat and lack of air conditioning in the building, Jalapeños owner Ramon Saucillo graciously agreed to host the event in the new addition to his restaurant, which was formerly the home of Steve’s Corner Café.
Last month’s bingo had more than 60 participants, and from those proceeds a check for $500 was donated to Jones County’s Mustard Seed Ministries,u to assist in roofing homes of those in need of a helping hand to stay dry, with money left over to help refill the coffers of Changing Stations Ministry. All money raised at the bingo is used to help people in Jones County through the ministries, including the support of Jones County’s safe house.
