At a called finance meeting Aug. 27, Mayor Pro Tem and Finance Chairman Loretta Lipsey presented the 2014 budget for the city. The budget and millage rate will be officially adopted at the Oct. 7 council meeting.
The city’s budget is $2,016,923, and its millage rate is 9.5.
According to handouts at last week’s meeting, Fire Chief Max Wood asked for an increase of $14,500, the police department an increase of $11,000, and street department an increase of $14,000.
The Downtown Development Authority asked for a $5,000 increase for its budget to cover anticipated expenses.
