The Clifton Ridge girls and boys swept Gray Station in their first meeting of the season last Wednesday at Clifton Ridge, with the girls winning a 30-28 thriller in overtime and the Cougars easing past Gray Station 59-22.

They meet again at Gray Station on Jan. 23 in the final regular season games of the season.

The Lady Hounds rallied from a 16-9 halftime deficit to take a 28-27 lead when Alexis James grabbed a rebound and put it back up for a basket with about a minute to go in regulation.

Clifton Ridge’s Davilynn Dozier hit a free throw with 36.6 seconds left to tie the game, and neither team could score the rest of the way, sending it to overtime.

Sydney Lanford stole the ball and scored on a layup for the Lady Cougars halfway through the overtime period for the only points in the extra period to give Clifton Ridge the victory.

James and Cheyanne Mosteller scored 12 each to lead the Lady Hounds. Tia Mallory scored 14 points and Dozier added 10 to lead the Lady Cougars.
