Council votes to rezone property for light industry

The monthly meeting for Gray’s mayor and council was brief last week, with a zoning issue the main topic of discussion.

Mayor Gus Wilson began the meeting with a proclamation to honor former Keep Jones Beautiful Executive Director Judy Webb, who retired from her position in February.

Webb became the director in 2007, and, although an employee of Jones County, devoted many hours to the beautification of Gray.

“During the course of her employment, Judy Webb has consistently performed to the highest levels of beauty and professional services,” Wilson stated.

Zoning

The zoning hearing concerned a request from Jeff Stark to rezone his building in Settlement Point from C-2 (general commercial) to M-1 (wholesale and light industrial). The purpose of the rezoning was to allow the manufacture of small screening machines and screens.
