They downed Crawford County 9-0 last Tuesday. Coach Mandy Vaughn reported that Tori Dover struck out five, walked three and allowed two hits for the victory, and that the defense played well behind her.
Brooke Sheffield and Maddie Knight were each 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Dover was 1-for-2 and drove in a run to lead the offense, which collected seven hits and seven walks while striking out only three times.
“I was extremely proud of our hitting. We put the bat on the ball, but more importantly, we were hitting the ball hard,” Vaughn said.
The Lady Hounds added a 12-0 no-hit victory over Byron on Thursday. Kloey Goins and Shelby Fontenot pitched for Gray Station. Goins struck out four, and neither pitcher walked a batter.
The Lady Hounds had 10 hits in 18 at-bats in the game. Autumn Land went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Logan Faulk was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Maddie Bennett, Dover, Sheffield, Ashlynne Williams and Goins were all 1-for-2. Sheffield drove in two runs and Goins one.
