The Greyhounds rebounded from their 0-2 start to win two games last week to pull to .500 on the season, downing Dodge County 57-46 on the road on Tuesday and whipping Georgia Military College 73-39 in their home opener on Friday.

“We really played well down at Dodge County,” coach Dennis Woolfolk said. “We had been a little off the first couple of games, especially on offense, but we put it all together at Dodge.

“And against GMC, we took care of business. We’ve got more talent and experience than they have now. They’re young and kind of where we were last year. So it was good to go out and play well and get that win.”

The Greyhounds had three players score in double figures in both games. Against Dodge, senior forward Doug West led with 17 points, followed by junior guard Brandon Wimberly with 16 and senior center Jarquez Smith with 14. Against GMC, Smith scored 19, Wimberly added 17 and junior guard Jo Jo Gibbons chipped in for 12.

“They were kind of beating up on Jarquez in the first couple of games, but I told him that’s what he has to expect this season, and he is adjusting,” Woolfolk said.
