A groundbreaking is scheduled for a community garden Saturday that has far-reaching implications for all of Jones County.

Keep Jones Beautiful Executive Director Steven Smith said the groundbreaking for the community garden will take place at 10 a.m., April 6, at the Idella Duncan Elementary School in Haddock, which is the future site of the Haddock Community Enrichment Center.

The address of the school building is 187 Peach St. in Haddock.

Smith said everyone is invited to attend the event and get involved. The groundbreaking will be followed by a work day and cleanup around the building.

Saturday is Keep America Beautiful’s National Day of Action that is intended to support the Great American Cleanup, all of which is sponsored locally by Keep Jones Beautiful.
