The Greyhounds dropped their first two games, both on the road, losing to Veterans 65-51 last Tuesday and to Baldwin 51-49 on Friday.
Smith, who has already signed with Florida State, fouled out of both games, with the opposing defenses collapsing on the middle to make it tough for him to get the ball, and with the offenses pushing inside to force him to foul.
“I told him, ‘Hey, this is the way it’s going to be. They’re going to gang up on you. You have to find a way to get open and to stay out of foul trouble,’” coach Dennis Woolfolk said.
But the coach said others also need to step up their games on offense to help take some of the pressure off Smith.
