After a sluggish start, the Greyhounds turned up the intensity in the second half last Friday night in Eatonton to shut out Putnam County 35-0 in their final non-region game.

Jones County improved to 2-1 with the victory in its first road game of the season. Putnam fell to 2-2.

Leading only 7-0 at halftime against the Class AA War Eagles, the Greyhounds drove for touchdowns on their first two possessions in the second half, then capped the night with two defensive touchdowns on Putnam fumbles.

The Greyhounds hit the road again this Friday to open their Region 2-AAAAA schedule against Greenbrier in Evans at 7:30 p.m.

The Wolfpack is 0-3 and hasn’t scored in its last two games, a 49-0 loss at Jefferson County last week and a 45-0 shutout by North Augusta the week before. Greenbrier’s only two touchdowns came in its opener, a 25-14 loss to Cross Creek.

Junior quarterback Allen Walls has completed 15 of 37 passes for 113 yards so far this season, with one touchdown and two interceptions.
