Jones County’s junior varsity and ninth-grade baseball teams finished strong by winning their end-of-season tournaments on Saturday.

The junior varsity Hounds downed Perry 16-6 last Wednesday on the road in their final regular season game, then beat Northside-Warner Robins 8-0 and Houston County 7-6 on Saturday to finish the season with a 15-1 record.

Coach Chris Martin reported that Tracy Jackson went 2-for-3, hitting a grand slam, and Dylan Still and Austin Bloodworth pitched for the Hounds in the victory at Perry.

Keever Walker got the win in the shutout against Northside, with good defense behind him. Bloodworth had three hits and Walker two to lead the offense, and Justin Chambers came off the bench to drive in two runs with a hit.

Bradley Hunnicutt picked up the victory in the championship game against Houston, which also featured good defense and clutch hitting, Martin said.

The ninth-graders finished the year with a 15-2 record by beating Perry 9-2 last Wednesday, then topping Northiside 7-1 and Perry again, 9-3, on Saturday.
