So now the Lady Hounds find themselves needing to sweep their final two subregion games and get a little help to avoid being a bottom seed for the region tournament they host Feb. 12-16.
After battling back from an eight-point deficit in the third quarter, Jones County could not score on three possessions in the final 30 seconds and was edged 51-50 by Houston County on Friday to remain winless in the subregion. And the Lady Hounds were whipped 61-45 by Baldwin in a non-region game on Saturday. Both games were at home.
That dropped the Lady Hounds to 7-13 on the season and 0-4 in Region 2-AAAAA. They have lost two in a row and five of their last eight.
Warner Robins leads the subregion at 11-10 and 3-1. Northside (8-9, 3-2) and Houston County (10-11, 3-2) are tied for second.
The Lady Hounds were to play a non-region home game against Twiggs County on Tuesday. Then they host Northside on Friday and play at Warner Robins next Tuesday in their final two subregion games.
