When the votes were tallied in Gray’s runoff election Tuesday, Loretta Lipsey was chosen as mayor pro tem for the next four years, albeit by a margin of five votes.

The results of the Dec. 1 runoff were Lipsey 246 to Rooster Cogburn’s 241, giving her just over a 1 percent margin. The city has 1,617 registered voters, making the 487 votes a 30 percent turnout.
