Serving as pallbearers were C.K. Dickerson, Dick Justice, Walter Duffee, Jody Mingledorff, Chris Baden, Guerry Marsh, Robert Gilbert, David Holman and Todd Cowart. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Sam Goolsby and Walter Lewis.
Mr. Dumas was born in Hillsboro to the late Joseph Coleman Dumas and Mary Levi Goolsby Dumas. He lived in Macon for 20 years before returning to Hillsboro in 1974. Frank served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Southern Tech graduate with a civil engineering degree.
Before retirement, he owned and operated Frank Dumas Construction Company. After retirement, he was the road superintendent for Jasper County Public Works.
Frank loved fishing, boating, shrimping, and restoring old boats. He loved woodworking projects and built several homes. His last project included restoring a log cabin that was moved from the Hadaway property and relocated to the Dumas property.
Son-in-law James Braxton Holman and brothers Coleman Dumas and Bill Dumas all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Hadaway Dumas of Hillsboro; daughter, Donna Dumas Holman of Monticello; son, Frank “Petey” Dumas Jr. of Griffin; six grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Edmund Dumas of Hillsboro.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hillsboro Community Center, c/o Ms. Sudy Stuckey, 220 Fullerton-Phillips Road, Monticello, GA 31064.
