GRAY: Frank Oliver Hoffmann, 92, of Weidner Drive, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at a local assisted living facility. A funeral mass was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with interment at Elam Baptist Church in Jones County. Father Allan J. McDonald officiated.

Mr. Hoffmann was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Evansville, Ind., and had lived in Jones County for the past eight years. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Daniel Hoffmann. Mr. Hoffmann served his country with honor with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a gunner. While serving in the Philippines, Mr. Hoffmann was shot down and was listed missing in action for three months. He was a retired operator for Fiberfill Plastics and was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Bilderback Hoffmann, and by his siblings, Mary Hoffmann, Louise Constance and George Hoffmann.

Mr. Hoffmann is survived by his daughter and spouse, Nancy and David Morgan; grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Reneé Weidner and Janie and Neal Parrish; and by his great-grandchildren and spouse, Christina and John Belcher, Jennifer Weidner, Ethan Parrish, Eric Parrish, Emily Parrish and Ellie Parrish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Macon Rescue Mission, 774 Hazel St., Macon, GA 31201.
