Mr. Snead was born on Sept. 22, 1943, in El Dorado, Ark., and had lived in Gray for the past six years. He was the son of the late Edgar Lowell Snead and Laverna Opal McAlister Snead. Mr. Snead served with honor in the U.S. Army and, upon his return to civilian life, worked as an engineer manager for Cox Cable for 40 years. He was a member of the Right Away Association, the McAlister Scottish clan, and was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts, working with Troop 364. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snead was preceded in death by his birth parents, Albert Patterson and Levera Carter Patterson, and by a brother, Marion McAlister.
Mr. Snead is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Ann Brooks Snead; sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell W. Jr. and Stephanie Snead, Larry and Sherah Snead and Patrick and Sheri Snead; daughter and son-in-law, Anna Marie and Tim Araujo; sisters, Sheryl McAlister and Linda Denniston; and by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
