Tavares Williams was in Superior Court Nov. 15 facing charges that he violated his probation for a 2008 burglary. Williams pled guilty to the burglary in Jones County Sept. 9, 2009.
He received a sentence of five years for the offense and was allowed to serve it on probation following his time in a state probation detention center.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway told the court that Williams violated that probation by committing the new offense of aggravated assault in Bibb County July 25, 2011.
In addition to the new crime, his probation violations included the use of marijuana, moving without permission and absconding supervision from Aug. 11, 2010, to his arrest Aug. 13, 2012.
Williams stipulated to the probation violations and Chief Judge William Prior revoked his sentence to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections until Feb. 27, 2017, the end date of his sentence.
