The Jones County Board of Commissioners had a visit from Sheriff Butch Reece, who gave them a reality check of the needs of his department.

The April 17 meeting began with a question about garbage pickup in Kingsview Village, which was part of the City of Macon until the Macon-Bibb County consolidation.

Kingsview resident Betty Harris said she was asking for clarity about the status of garbage collection in the neighborhood. She said Macon gave residents notice that they no longer have city collection.

Harris said she did find another company to pick up her household garbage, but then got another letter from Macon that trash service would continue through June.

Chairman Preston Hawkins said Jones County plans to sign an inter-governmental agreement with Macon-Bibb County so the garbage pickup for Kingsview Village can continue.
