A Jones County man owes his life to a passer-by who pulled him from a fiery crash last weekend. Both men remain hospitalized due to their injuries.

Kyle Little, 19, was driving his 2004 Honda Accord on Altman Road on the afternoon of April 21 when he saw a turkey in the road and swerved to miss it. He lost control of his car and struck a utility pole, breaking it in half.

Deputy Director of Jones County Emergency Management Bill Wright said he arrived on the scene approximately eight minutes after the call was dispatched and saw two men lying in the road.

He said both men were conscious, and Little was able to tell him what happened.

When the power pole broke, power lines came down on the Honda, and it started burning, as did the grass and woods around it.
