Two young Jones Countians are having a different kind of birthday party this Saturday by deciding to forego presents to help a local riding center that works with special-needs children and adults.

Madison and Allison Hanson are inviting everyone to attend their ‘Birthday Bash’ at Brave Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. The address for Brave Meadows is 1094 Eatonton Highway.

Madison’s birthday is actually Sept. 10 and Allison’s is Oct. 13. They will turn 9 and 8 this year. Both attend Dames Ferry Elementary.

The girls’ father, Collins, said as their birthdays approached, Madison and Allison asked if, instead of presents that they did not need, they could have a party at Brave Meadows to help people who could not afford the lessons and to help provide feed for the horses this winter.

He said his daughters started going to Brave Meadows in February on an invitation from a friend who boarded horses at the facility.
