The Jones County girls made it to the finals of their 20th annual Holiday Classic last week before being waylaid 67-42 in the championship game by Washington County, which breezed through the three-day tournament to improve to 10-0.

The Golden Hawks made it a clean sweep for Washington County, blowing past Westside-Macon 58-45 for the boys’ championship.

The Jones County boys won one of three games in the tournament to finish fourth.

Sophomore Allisha Gray scored 19 points to lead the Washington County girls in the title game on Thursday night, but that was actually not bad defense against her by the Lady ’Hounds. Gray, who was the tournament MVP, tallied 32 against Northside-Warner Robins in the first round and 25 against Westside in the second.
