A Macon man was sentenced to eight years to serve in prison after entering a guilty plea to two burglaries in Jones County Superior Court last week.

Clarence Clark III was sentenced Jan. 27 to a total of 20 years for two counts burglary, obstruction of an officer, and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. Upon service of eight years in the Georgia Department of Corrections, he may spend the remainder of his sentence on probation.

Clark was arrested by Cpl. Travis Douglas Nov. 17, 2009, following a chase both in vehicles and on foot.

An account of the incident by Douglas states a report was broadcast while he was on patrol about two men fleeing the scene of a burglary that took place on Childs Road. The information said the men were in a white Crown Victoria with damage to the front end. The deputy said he met a white Mercury Grand Marquis on Highway 49 fitting the description and turned around to pursue it.
