The Lady ’Hounds started off with a 4-1 loss to Putnam County on Tuesday. Coach Will Mitcham had to miss the game to attend the star student and teacher ceremony in Macon, and his team played flat without him.
After a scoreless tie in the first half, Putnam took control in the second, scoring four goals – one on a penalty kick and another on a long spot kick that sailed just over goalkeeper Morgan Jackson’s hands into the top of the goal.
Katelyn Ward scored Jones County’s only goal with 16.9 seconds left off of a corner kick.
The Lady ’Hounds bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to down Baldwin 2-0 at home Wednesday night. Kendal Robinson and Calyn Molencamp scored a goal apiece, and Jackson had 12 saves.
