Soccer boys gain first win, Ramage hurls no-hitter

The Jones County boys secured their first soccer victory of the season last Tuesday, downing GMC 2-1 at home. Mack Malone and Matthew Strenkowski scored goals for the Greyhounds, and Adam Sole had two assists. Blake Robinson had 10 saves.

The Greyhounds tied Rutland 3-3 in Macon on Wednesday. Eric Parrish scored two goals and Sole one for Jones County, and Malone had an assist.

The Lady Hounds lost both of their soccer matches last week, falling 8-3 to GMC at home and 7-2 to Rutland on the road.

Kendal Robinson scored all three goals for Jones County against GMC, and Amy Hall and Courtney McKinney scored against Rutland.

Boys’ coach Will Mitcham said he was encouraged by his team’s play last week, which also included a loss to Griffin on penalty kicks on Monday.
