GRAY: Robert Glenn Smith, 76, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in a local hospital. The family received friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, graveside, at Westview Cemetery in Thomson, with Drs. Dusty Reynolds and Steve Albanese officiating.

Mr. Smith was born in Warrenton on Oct. 13, 1935, and had lived in Gray for the past 42 years. He was the son of the late Ray Olin Smith and Edith McNair Smith. After completing his education, he honorably served in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked as a large dragline operator for the J.M. Huber Corporation, was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Gray, and was also a member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia F & AM.

Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jacqueline T. Smith of Gray; son and daughter-in-law, Robert David and Dena Rhoden Smith of Gray; daughter, Kathy Lynn Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, Jimmy Smith of Camak; and by his grandchildren, Jessica Karen Smith, Robert Brady Smith and Austin David Smith, all of Gray.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Gray Transportation Fund and/or Grounds Fund, P.O. Box 429, Gray, GA 31032.
