Two Augusta men pled guilty in Jones County Superior Court last week for their involvement in a 2010 residential robbery.

Both Lester Finley Jr. and Tyrel Chyron Booker were 18 years of age at the time of their arrests Dec. 10, 2010. Their original charges were armed robbery, but as part of plea negotiations, the men pled guilty Nov. 19 to the lesser offense of robbery.

Finley was allowed to enter his plea as a first offender and received 10 years, which he may serve on probation.

Booker is not eligible for first offender status because of a previous burglary conviction for which he is on probation in Augusta. He had been incarcerated in the Jones County Law Enforcement Center since his arrest and was given time served that totaled 690 days with the remainder of his 10-year sentence to be served on probation.

Superior Court Judge Hulane George accepted the pleas.

Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway told the court the armed robbery occurred Dec. 1, 2010. He said the men took property from the residence of Antonio Pitts. He said Pitts lived in the home with his wife and small children and an investigation of the crime revealed Pitts was selling marijuana.
