Clifton Ridge teams go 2-1 to open season

The Clifton Ridge boys won two of their first three games of the season, all in the past week, downing Monroe County 45-37 on Wednesday, losing to Crawford County 44-25 on Friday and bouncing back to beat Byron 45-21 on Monday.

Nick Singleton led the Cougars in scoring in each game, with 24 points against Monroe, 19 against Byron and 10 against Crawford. Kylan Hill added 13 points in the win over Monroe, and Maurice Brown scored 12 against Byron.

Clifton Ridge girls 2-1

The Clifton Ridge girls also started the season 2-1, losing to Monroe County 27-22 in the opener on Wednesday but beating Crawford County 31-16 on Friday and Byron 21-18 on Monday.

Tia Mallory and Davilyn Dozier scored seven each to lead the Lady Cougars against Monroe. Dozier was top scorer against Crawford with 13 and against Byron with 14.

Gray Station boys lose

The Gray Station boys lost three close games in the last week, falling to Byron 36-29 in double overtime on Wednesday, losing to Lamar County 22-20 on Friday and losing to Henderson 33-32 on Monday.
