GORDON: Funeral services for Minnie Lee Summers Youngblood were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Gordon United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Snowhill Cemetery. The family received friends at Williams White Columns, Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Youngblood, 102, went to be with the Lord Dec. 14. A native of Gordon, she was predeceased by her husband, J.T. Youngblood; daughter, Sara Y. Brooks; infant daughter, Gwendolyn Louise Youngblood; parents, J.W. and Elizabeth M. Summers; and brothers and sisters, Flemin Summers, Elmon Summers, Francis S. Woods, Gussie S. Owen and Ann S. Williamson.

Gordon’s oldest citizen, she was an active and the oldest member of Gordon United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and was loved by them in return. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and was never happier than when her family was with her. Her grandchildren have loving memories of being at Granddaddy and Mamma Youngblood’s house. They shared Easter egg hunts, family Christmases, Thanksgiving dinners and Sunday get-togethers, where they could always count on some of Mamma Youngblood’s goodies after a hard day of play.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley (J.K.) McCook of Macon, Glenda Simmons of Gordon and Carol Reese of Gray; sister, Mrs. Wilmyth Davis of Gordon; grandchildren, Sherryll Young, Keith (Nancy) McCook, Craig (Michele) McCook, Deirdre (Randy) Sowell, Steven (Mary Sue) Simmons, Daphne (Chuck) Gilley, Kim (Danny) Simmons, Jeff Simmons and Tommy Brooks; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
