Mr. Collett was born on June 22, 1950, in Atlanta, Texas, and had lived most of his life in Gray. He was the son of the late Jessie Lewis Collett and Gloria Strawn Collett. Mr. Collett served with honor as a member of the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam and, upon returning to civilian life, he retired as an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Kegler Kings bowling league, was an avid coin and stamp collector, loved flowers and gardening, and enjoyed playing the variety of games in the Georgia Lottery.
Mr. Collett is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marcy and Sean Vertin and Kelly and Jason Sapp; son, Clint Collett; grandchildren, Macy Vertin, Seth Vertin, Jacob Stovall, Joshua Sapp, Bethany Sapp and Brandon Sapp; sister, Judy Perry; brother, Benny Collett; and by his companion, Elaine Black.
