The first sighting of the season for the Easter bunny is expected Saturday at Jones County’s Head Start building located on Bill Conn Jr. Parkway.

The Gray Rattlers are hosting their 10th annual Easter egg hunt March 23, and the event will feature face painting, clowns, hot dogs, an inflatable for the children to play on, and, of course, Easter baskets. The festivities will start at noon.

The Rattlers will be assisted once again by the Sisters of Strength of Jordan Chapel. The Easter egg hunt is one of the continuing efforts by the local men’s club to give back to the community.

The Gray Rattlers are a local men’s club who simply decided to make a difference in their community. The club was formed in 2003, and Gray Police Capt. Leo Sweet is its president.

The Easter egg hunt is made possible through donations from Ingles Supermarket, Ace Hardware, and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. Hot dogs will be served prior to the hunt, and Sweet said as always there would be prizes presented to the different age groups.

Sweet noted that the event is open to children of all ages and areas will be designated by age groups to give all children an equal chance during the games and to find eggs and treats.
