Coach Chris Martin reported that Lonnie Anderson was the winning pitcher Monday, and he also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Keaton Gordon was 4-for-4 with three doubles, and Dylan Willis was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Caleb Brown went the distance on the mound for Jones County in last week’s game against Warner Robins. J.P. Johnson, Nate Krattli, Anderson and Cody Compton all had two hits for the Hounds.
Last Wednesday’s game against Houston County, which had handed the Hounds their only loss earlier this season, proved a bit more difficult.
Compton held the Bears to three runs over five innings as the Hounds built a 5-3 lead. But the visitors scored three in the top of the sixth against reliever Chandler Ramage to go ahead.
Jones County rallied to score six runs on five hits and three walks in the bottom of the inning, however, to regain the lead. Krattli had a clutch bunt single with runners on second and third, and Harrison Bryant drove in two runs with another clutch hit to put the Hounds back ahead.
