It is not too late to sign up for the April 12-13 retreat, and interested parties should contact the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce for registration applications.
All five members of the Jones County Board of Commissioners have signed up to attend the retreat, which makes it the perfect opportunity for attendees to meet and get acquainted with the board’s two new members, Daylon Martin and Jonathan Pitts.
Pitts and Martin are looking at many county issues for the first time and are bringing new ideas to the table.
The retreat begins Friday, April 12, with a visit to Statesboro’s Splash in the Boro water park to see firsthand how the public/private partnership is working.
The water park is an example of the economic development opportunities of tourism and, according to an economic impact study of the facility, has had a positive impact on the Bulloch County economy since its 2009 opening.
