Jones County’s elected leaders got together earlier this month to find out what steps they would be willing to take and what role they could play in attracting industry to the community.

Members of the Board of Commissioners, Board of Education and Gray City Council joined the Development Authority in hearing a presentation from attorney Kevin Brown on what other communities have done.

Development Authority Executive Director Kathyjo Gordon began the meeting by thanking Commissioner Jonathan Pitts for calling to get the meeting started. She noted that several strategic planning meetings all pointed at the need for an incentive schedule.

“Each of you was invited not only because you have an important role in the community but also because you have a part in providing any incentives to industries looking to locate in Jones County,” she said.
