GRAY: Johnny Godfrey Morgan, 76, of Pinewood Drive, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at a local hospital. Services were held at Bridges Funeral Home on Aug. 26, and he was laid to rest at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray.

Mr. Morgan was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Blackshear, and lived in Gray for the past 42 years. He was the son of the late Earnest Paul Morgan and Addie Mae Williamson, and was the youngest of five children. Mr. Morgan honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy.

He met and married the love of his life, Annette Jordan of Waycross, in 1956. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Annette Morgan; son and daughter-in-law, John and Kim Morgan of Macon; son, Paul Morgan; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Billy NeSmith of Statesboro, Jamie and Mike Barnes of Cumming, and Marianne and Marcus Kimes of Macon. Mr. Morgan was “Papa” to 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Johnny Morgan will be remembered by many as the owner of Morgan’s Minute Markets in Macon.
