DDA Chairman Sherri Rollins started the Sept. 9 meeting with a report of a recent budget meeting with city council members. She said the DDA requested $10,000 from the city this year, which doubled the previous amount.
“We are on the cutting edge of getting started. We needed more money, and it was approved,” she said.
The next item discussed was the zoning overlay for the area that would eventually become Gray’s town square. Rollins said she spoke to the city committee in charge of zoning and was asked to bring the idea before the full board at their next committee meeting.
She said she is asking zoning officer Tim Pitrowski and Kim Carter with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to also attend the committee meeting. Carter is the DCA Downtown Development Revolving Loan Fund coordinator and would be talking about funding options.
Rollins asked if it is too soon for Carter to talk to council members, and Main Street Manager Jennifer Baggarly said she believes it would be a good thing for the council to receive the information so they can have time to digest it.
