It was the first time since 2007 that both the Jones County girls and boys qualified for state in the same season.
Sophomore Kate Boland ran a 21:27 to finish 46th in the girls’ 5K to lead the Lady Hounds, and freshman Hunter Kimball ran an 18:17.98 to finish 88th in the boys’ race to lead the Greyhounds.
Lindsey Billings, also a sophomore, won the girls’ race in 19:12.3 to lead Northview to the team title. Lakeside-Evans was second, followed by Dunwoody.
Flowery Branch won the boys’ team title, followed by Clarkston and Northview. Kell sophomore Logan Poteet was the individual winner with a time of 16:13.38.
Rounding out the top five for the Lady Hounds were four freshmen – Kaitlyn Holder, 57th at 21:42.23; Tia Mallory, 129th at 23:14.03; Frannie Pittman, 132nd at 23:21.23; and Holly Gurnee, 169th at 24:19.98.
