Junior pitcher Kylie Bass and senior second baseman Olivia Lane took top honors at the Lady Hounds’ annual softball awards banquet held at Jones County High School last Thursday.

Bass, who was the Region 2-AAAAA pitcher of the year, was named Most Valuable Player. She had a 0.80 earned run average for the season.

Lane won the scholar athlete award for maintaining a 94.7 grade point average during her four years on the varsity, and she earned the Jessica Trimnell award for character. Lane was also first team all-region and was selected to play in the Georgia Dugout Club All-Star game earlier this month.

Winning the best offensive player award was junior center fielder Jazmine Washington, who led the team with a .423 batting average and 21 stolen bases. Named best defensive player was junior catcher Charli Justice, who threw out five of 10 runners who tried to steal second and had no errors on the season.

Washington and Justice were also recognized for being first team all-region, and freshman Bree Comer and senior Kaitlin Stokes were honored for being second team all-region.
