A one-time gift to the foundation not only sends a book a month to a grandchild, niece, nephew, or friend, etc., from birth to age 5, but also provides a book a month to another child as part of the adopt-a-child program.
Books can be mailed anywhere in the United States whether or not the child lives in the foundation’s participating area. In addition to the books, the child receives tailored reading guides and activities designed to make reading fun for the entire family.
The cost of the Ferst Readers program depends on the child’s age. A child under the age of 1 would receive 60 books over five years at a cost of $220. The cost decreases with the age of the child down to $85 for a child age 4, who would receive the books each month for a full year.
Participation in the Ferst Readers program is a gift that lasts a lifetime. It is a gift that always fits and never gets old because it renews itself every month.
