HADDOCK: Carl Thomas Green, 74, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. Mr. Green, a native of Akron, Ohio, relocated to Jones County 40 years ago. The family is greeting friends, Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carl Green and Iris Otley. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Aldridge, and daughter, Virginia Lucas.

Mr. Green played college football for Ohio State and proudly served in the Marines. He later transferred to the U.S. Air Force, where he continued playing football and went on to retire with a degree in electrical engineering. He later in life retired from the National Guard and started enjoying numerous hobbies. Above all, he was best known for being a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Green spent years donating to many charities. A few of his personal favorites were Paralyzed Veterans, Diabetes Foundation, and Parkinson’s Foundation.

His memory will forever be cherished and greatly missed by his five children, Christopher Thomas Green (Tiffany), Michael Thomas Green, Curt Thomas Green, Cynthia Baughcum Fincher (Donnie), and Carol Chapman (Lee) and James Michael Baughcum, all of Gray. He is also survived by many grand and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Diabetes Association, and Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
