The grand jury convened Feb. 3, only a few days less than a month since its previous session Jan. 7, which was specially called to consider bills of indictment on a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations case.
Assistant District Attorney Wright Barksdale said the Jones County office is planning to hold grand juries more often, hopefully every other month, to help clear the court calendar and move the cases through the system in a timely manner.
Previously, Jones County’s grand jury met twice a year, in February and August.
A complete list of the Feb. 3 indictments may be found on the Open Records page in this week’s edition.
Last week’s indictments include charges of burglary, multiple drug charges, child molestation, and statutory rape.
Harry William Pasto was indicted for 14 counts of sexual exploitation. He was arrested on the charges in Jones County, March 17, 2011, and is currently out on a $50,000 bond.
