Rotarian Jason Briley was responsible for the Feb. 5 program and introduced Future Business Leaders Association advisor Laura Rackley and FBLA member Vasco Sanders.
Rackley said FBLA assists students in preparing for their future as business leaders, and part of that preparation is achieved through competitions.
“FBLA is a co-curricular student organization for students in business education. Students in FBLA participate in various conferences and professional development activities, as well as competitive events and activities designed to produce a level of civic-consciousness among members, such as the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House, and nursing home visits,” she explained.
Rackley said Sanders competed Jan. 27 and won a regional competition for public speaking in Jasper County. He is currently a student at the Jones County High School Ninth Grade Campus and will be representing the region at the state level in Atlanta March 16.
Sanders used the opportunity to speak to Rotary Club members as another preparation tool, giving him the speech he will be using at the upcoming competition.
