Jones County’s recent Board of Education meeting focused on the success of its school nutrition department.

The Feb. 18 meeting, which had been postponed from the week before because of the pending weather, began with a report by School Superintendent William Mathews.

He said he has been provided copy of spring sports schedules. Jones County will have buses on the road going a lot of different places for students involved with baseball, tennis, golf, track, and boys and girls soccer.

“It’s an expensive proposition, but we want our students to be involved,” Mathews said.

The superintendent said a lot of fund-raisers are going on at the schools, but many of them are giving back to the community.

“I’m really proud of them for doing that and the work that they do,” he added.

He also thanked the board members for their support.
