The Jones County junior varsity Hounds have improved to 12-1 with victories in their last two games, both 10-0 shutouts at home, over Perry last Thursday and Warner Robins on Monday.

Keever Walker pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts against Perry, and he and Harrison Bryant each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Tanner Goff went 2-for-2 with a walk, and D. Thomas went 4-for-4 to lead the Hounds over Warner Robins.

Gray Station splits

The Gray Station Hounds split a pair of middle school home games last week, downing Byron 15-3 on Monday but falling to Monroe County 7-5 on Thursday.

Coach Tripp Burt said the Hounds battled back from an early 6-0 deficit caused by some defensive miscues but couldn’t quite catch up. They are now 8-2 on the season.

Gray Station plays Clifton Ridge at Jones County High School at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Clifton Ridge broke a long losing streak against Gray Station in their first meeting of the season back on March 19.
