As they entered the final week of the regular season, the Greyhounds needed one more win, or one more loss by Warner Robins, to clinch second place in the subregion standings and assure themselves of hosting a first round game in the Region 2-AAAAA playoffs, which are to begin April 17.

Jones County could have wrapped up second place last week but lost two of its three subregion games, being blanked 10-0 at Houston County on Tuesday, bouncing back to win 11-6 at Northside on Wednesday but then losing 6-3 at Warner Robins on Friday. The Greyhounds also whipped Dublin 15-5 in a non-region game at home on Thursday to go 2-2 on the week.

All of that makes Jones County 12-4 overall and 4-3 in subregion play. Houston County, at 15-3 and 7-0, has clinched the subregion title. Warner Robins, 6-10 and 3-4, would have to win both of its final two subregion games and see Jones County lose both of its final two to overtake the Greyhounds for second. Northside, at 3-11 and 0-7, is out of the running.

The Greyhounds were to host Northside on Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to the wet field. Warner Robins was to host Houston County.

The final regular season subregion games are scheduled for Friday – Houston at Jones and Warner Robins at Northside.
