The annual fishing rodeo and Jakes day at Miller Creek Lake in northern Jones County is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Miller Creek Lake is located in the Oconee National Forest off U.S. 129/Ga. 44 (Eatonton Highway), approximately 8.3 miles northeast of Gray (going north, turn left across the road from Jones County Fire Station No. 10).

In addition to the fishing tournament from 8 a.m. to noon, magician Mike Fuller will perform, and the Georgia Hunter’s Association will have a shooting range for the kids to enjoy. Lunch will also be provided.

Come and bring the children out for a fun-filled day of fishing and outdoor activities sponsored by local merchants and cooperative agencies. Free T-shirts, food and prizes will be given away.

The event is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, the Georgia DNR, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Jasper County High School Bass Club, FLW Outdoors, Georgia Bass Federation, Jones County Farm Bureau, Georgia Hunter’s Association, Putnam County All Seasons Sportsman Club, the Georgia chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Georgia Quail, LLC, and Take A Kid Fishing and Hunting.
