The Bushway and Waystack Law Firm consists of attorneys Gregory Bushway and Keagan Waystack, who were Jones County’s prosecutors until August of 2013. The attorneys have represented clients in civil and criminal cases regularly since opening their private practice in Macon, Oct. 1, 2013, but not without challenges.
The defense team was disqualified from representing Debarus Bowden April 14 by Superior Court Judge Trent Brown. Bowden was arrested in February of 2013 and was indicted the following August on multiple drug charges.
Before that disqualification, the firm had successfully represented other criminal defendants after their clients signed a waiver without objection by the state.
The issue of their disqualification came up again during a May 15 motion day hearing in Jones County Superior Court. The Bushway and Waystack firm is the attorney of record for Isais Hernandez Ramirez and Richardo David Rodrigues, who were arrested Nov. 4, 2013, and indicted Jan. 7, 2014, on two counts of Violation of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
