GRAY: Mary Brooks Patton, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark Newman Brooks of Deepstep, died May 13, 2014. Memorial services celebrating Mary’s life were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, at First Baptist Church of Gray. The Rev. Dusty Reynolds officiated.

Mary was a graduate of Sandersville High School and worked in Milledgeville, where she met and married her husband of 70 years, Joseph Lee Patton of Macon. Their early years of marriage were spent living and traveling the East Coast while Joe pursued his naval career. They returned to Middle Georgia in 1962, where they settled in Gray and made it their home among many friends and family. Mary and Joe were Sunday school leaders for 20-plus years at First Baptist Church in Gray.

Mary is survived by her son, Sam Patton, and his wife, Troy, of Macon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to First Baptist Church of Gray, P.O. Box 429, Gray, GA 31032, or the donor’s favorite charity.
