GRAY: Jerry Davis, 63, of Morton Road, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his residence. The family greeted friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services were held graveside, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at Sandhill Cemetery at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in McRae.

Mr. Davis was born Aug. 15, 1950, in McRae, and had lived in Gray for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late Furman Davis and Nellie Mae Hulett Davis. Upon completing high school, he attended the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in English and lived for several years. After moving to Gray, he worked as a licensed optician for Wal-Mart.

Mr. Davis is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Willene and Tim Stewart of Macon and Frances and Leon Sammons of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jennifer Banks of Bonaire; close friends, Debra and Leroy of Athens and Kathy and James of Macon; and by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Jones County Cruisers Car Club Benevolence Fund, c/o Dannie Curtis, P.O. Box 581, Gray, GA 31032.
