The May 29 hearing was specially set before Judge Hugh Wingfield and was held in the small courtroom of the Jones County Courthouse, while the regularly scheduled motion day was held in the main courtroom.
The case in question concerns two defendants, Isais Hernandez Ramirez and Richardo David Rodrigues, who were arrested Nov. 4, 2013, and indicted Jan. 7, 2014, on two counts of Violation of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
The motion to disqualify the firm of Bushway and Waystack that is comprised of former Jones County assistant district attorneys Gregory Bushway and Keagan Waystack from the case was filed by the state May 8 and was continued from its first hearing in Superior Court May 15.
Assistant District Attorney Dawn Baskin represented the state in the May 29 hearing, and defense attorney Frank Hogue represented Bushway and Waystack.
